Thrift: of the heathens. Their idol mediators, and their idolatrous worthlp, and to eflablilh the knowledge of the true God, and of the only mediator between God and man, and of the right method of obtaining his favour. But our wonder ti ceal'e, when the reafon of his conduct is under-rood. As the jews were the only people in the world who believed in the one true God, before his mefl'engen attempted to preach him to the heathens.
