An heir of an ancient evil lineage, Milo Browne kidnaps twelve-year-old Angelica Davila. Hiding his crime, he "disposes" of her via a time portal leading back to the years before The Great Flood. Found and adopted by Takachi the hunter, she is known in her new world as Akatiel. But Takachi's own sons betray their father to be killed by the rulers of the age. She is wrongly outcast as a rebel.
