In the beginning of the faith, we had unity under the leadership and teachings of Jesus Christ. People were saved and Heaven-bound without the great division and doctrines of what church is today, but how? They were saved by simply believing in the words of Jesus Christ and following His instructions. They were saved as Disciples of Jesus.
