Job's unjust suffering leads us to ask a millennia-old question, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" In the end, God does not offer a direct answer to this question. Sometimes our pain is understandable, being the direct consequence of our actions or circumstances. But, as in the case of Job, often pain and suffering seem to arise for no apparent reason.
