This is the story of WWII as experienced from the perspective of an ordinary little girl living in a working class shipbuilding town of around 70,000 people in the north-west of England. Both the town and its shipyard made major contributions to WWII, turning out the big guns, destroyers, submarines, surface ships and all kinds of other armaments needed to help Britain and the allies defeat the enemy. The town was heavily bombed during the blitz of 1941, as the enemy aimed to bomb the shipyard.
