Just when it appears he might get to relax for a few days, the boss sends a telegram that sends Darius to a small town in northern New Mexico.
Apparently, some blood suckers have taken a liking to this little town, and it's his job to set things right.
But after he spends a few days in town, he realizes their problem is a lot bigger than a couple of rowdy vampires.
Entire families are being killed on the farms and ranches around the area, and as the numbers pile up, the townsfolk begin to think he might not be the answer to their problem. Even his horse is thinking this is where Darius is going to die.
