"It came from nowhere, the cataclysmic event known only as 'The Flash.' A great light shone in the Old Capital, engulfing the entire city in its glow before vanishing, removing everything that failed to escape its majesty. Those left after the event were left confused and lost, yet there was hope in their hearts. As the sun had set on the old world, a new Dawn had broken. These are Dawn's Children and these are their stories..." Rowyn, Baron of the City of High-Ridge, spent his entire youth fighting in a great revolution and had a hand in the overthrowing of a corrupt King. After a decade of service to the rightful King, this his country and to himself, he settled down, accepting the position of Baron of one of the Nation of Angolia's more important Southern Cities. However, his Commrade, Azarath Goris, a fabled Dark elf Warrior from the East, struggled to live the relaxed life of a Baron's second. He grew unruly and difficult to work with, putting a great amount of strain on their friendship. Rowyn eventually learned that Azarath's nightly rampages had ended with the sexual assault of one of High-Ridge's citizens and so, finding himself unable to abide his old commrade's dangerous whims, he had Azarath arrested and put on trial. Though Azarath was a danger and a loose cannon, Rowyn knew that he couldn't kill him. The Dark Elf felt more like a brother than a friend. As a result, Azarath was sentenced to life's imprisonment in the Lonesome Tower, a small fort of the old world, located just outside the city walls. Rowyn did his best to move on with his life, raising his beloved daughter, Collene. Though he's able to shelter her from the past for as long as he can, she eventually finds and counters the Lonesome Tower and finds herself face to face with the prisoner inside. Feeling no ill will against her, Azarath almost becomes a second Father to her as she visits him regularly in secret over the next twelve years. However, the balance is once again about to be broken. Collene has disappeared, a terrible secret about her Father, one that has shattered her trust in him and has scared her to the point taht she has fled High-Rdge. Breaking the sole occupant out of the Lonesome Tower, Collene flees High-Ridge, desperate to get away from her Father. With his daughter missing, her mind possibly being poisoned by Azarath's bitterness, Rowyn is burdened with the uncertain task of re-uniting his family, keeping order in House Autumn-Hail and keeping a Usurper, known only to him as 'I' at bay...
