However, the contradictions within Laurent Kabila and the AFDL'S inner circle paved the way to the creation of the new armed organizations such as the Comité des Pouvoirs du Peuple (CPP) and the Rassemblement Congolais pour la Démocratie (RCD). The later as RCD-Goma, not only mismanaged the economic sectors under their administration, but they had equally criminalized access to the mineral resources. The split in the RCD into RCD-Goma and RCD-Kisangani was engineered by Uganda as a means of acceding to mineral and other resources around Kisangani, where they fought Rwanda three times.
