From poverty, to riches, to murder, to finding God in a bottomless pit, Keith and his childhood friend Devin were inseparable until one old school hustler played God and ended their brotherhood forever. Keith and Devin thought they would just hit a lick and they would be straight. But their careless thinking prevented them from making several rational decisions. Keith's Mom Dukes was always pouring faith upon him. She would say, "No matter where you are or what you're facing, God sees you." Keith never knew how vital her instruction was, until his faith was tested.
An attitude of gratitude doesn't happen naturally, especially in
prison. When I wrote this book, I was in isolation at North
Central Unit Prison in Calico Rock, Arkansas.
The heart of every prisoner is a battleground for the
war between good and evil that surrounds them on a daily
basis. Satan thrives on negativity that exists behind the razor
wire. He works hard to keep the prisoners' attention on life's
difficult and unpleasant circumstances, so they become
critical and complain and turn away from God. Satan knows
that if a person is looking only at what's wrong in their lives,
they're bound to get depressed and succumb to hopelessness.
During the 16 years I have been locked up, I have
learned the importance of living with gratitude, but it wasn't
until I surrendered my life to Christ and started reading my
Bible. I realize how much I have to be grateful for, even in
prison.
No matter where your Google Map shows you to be,
God is one click away. Peace and blessings, my friend.
