Davis (political science, Howard U.) brings together a group of primarily American academics to assess the U.S. "War on Terror." He presents 12 chapters that address a range of questions arising from the prosecution of the 21st century "crusade." Davis himself offers an evaluation of the efficacy of the "American Grand Strategy" for the defeat of Al Qaeda. Other contributors discuss questions of regional stability in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Issues of presidential war powers, the so-called "pre-emptive" doctrine promulgated by President Bush, cyber-terrorism, and the role of special operations forces in foreign policy execution are also addressed.
