After graduation, Brenda Dubcek can't get out of South Texas fast enough. She has a big dream - to become a great girls basketball coach - and she can hardly wait to get to her first college class in San Marcos. In that serendipitous golf class in 1971, Brenda meets three other young women who have dreams of their own. While Brenda and her pals fail miserably at golf, they bond over the bridge table in their dorm, forming a unique and lasting friendship. Over the next thirty years, life deals each woman some challenging cards, but the four Bridge Girls are always there for each other, picking up the pieces and dealing the next hand. They rescue a few greyhounds along the way, and their lives are touched by some of the seminal events of the late 20th century - including Vietnam and the events leading up to 9/11.
