In 2019, Spirit of the Hills Arts Association marks its twentieth anniversary. The association's membership includes over 160 artists, who live in all parts of Northumberland and surrounding counties and work in a wide variety of fields.
The launch of
Hill Spirits IV
is part of our second Festival of the Arts, October 24 to 26, 2019. The festival brings our members together to work cooperatively on a programme which showcases the talents of our visual artists, artisans and photographers, our playwrights, poets, short story and non-fiction writers, as well as the many musicians, dancers, multi-media artists and actors from our community.
The theme chosen for the festival is "Sharing Across the Arts," and writers and illustrators were asked to investigate the concept of sharing and its positive and negative connotations when they submitted items to the anthology. Authors took the opportunity to write on a great variety of topics and in many different styles so that once again this new
Hill Spirits
anthology contains something for everyone. Also included in the anthology are the winners of the festival's poetry and short prose contests.
