Ruth (Jessica Barden) is a young woman determined to escape the pocket of Southern Ohio she calls home where American manufacturing and dreams are dying. It doesn't take long until she receives the perfect opportunity to do this: college. With the help of her brother, she begins to save up to pay her way by joining a scrap metal crew. During the day, she works at scrap yards; by night, she steals precious metal from abandoned factories. Soon, however, she begins to realize what she must sacrifice to achieve her dreams.
