. The 20 tracks on this double album have a lazy drawl to them that's typically more emotionally upsetting than it is beautiful. This is, of course, meant as a compliment -- while some of the songs on the record betray a lack of direction, most wind up compelling because of their epically low-key rusticity. The albums which followed swung this sound through prettier areas (

) and into more accessible pop (
