This book introduces a number of Chinese characters that share a high, unround vowel feature with their corresponding phonetic element characters, and as a result are spelled with the same pinyin final "i" in Mandarin. The groups of characters listed can aid students in learning some of the basic phonetic patterns inherent in Mandarin Chinese characters.
