I am sensible that these letters can possess no other value than such as they derive from my means of Ob servation, and the diligence with which they have been improved. I ought, therefore, to say, that from the first appearance of the disease in this city I have sought it at all times and in all places, and indeed much more con stantly than was consistent with my health, and ordinary engagements.
