Young Adult Fiction
Menschens Portal Emporium: Second Edition: Revised and Abridged.
Menschens Portal Emporium is a fast-paced and thought-provoking fantasy/romance. The story is set in an Earth-like world where interdimensional travel is routine, but portals to the multiverse are prohibitively expensive. Peregrine, a seventeen-year-old, penniless student, meets Montana, a Native American girl of his own age. She is the ward of Ernest, co-owner of 'Menschens Portal Emporium, with his brother, Albert. Peregrine and Montan fall in love. In a multi-reality universe, there is the distinction between fact and fiction and Peregrine seeks to impress the Menschen Brothers by volunteering to undertake a dangerous quest to find the key to a mysterious master portal and lock down a world that has been invaded by an army of the most fearsome creatures in literature. His quest to find the key takes him through a series of fantastical worlds where characters from novels lead independent lives. At the end of his mission, he crosses an unknown portal and finds himself in an alternative London in the year 1880. There he meets former characters from David Copperfield and Oliver Twist, refugees from the world of fiction. Peregrine takes them back to his home on Earth Minor, and their lives intertwine in a story of love and deception that seems destined to end in tragedy.
