A comedy about a gifted musical conductor (Yul Brenner) whose pompous ego puts him at odds with musicians, trustees and his wife. The wife (Kay Kendall) finally has enough and decides to marry a respected physicist. It seems the couple had never bothered to marry in the first place. To avoid a scandal, the conductor's agent talks the two into marriage to procure the divorce without difficulty.
