A police sergeant in a full midlife crisis and a renowned cultural journalist who has fallen out of favor see how their lives intersect and join forces to investigate strange and apparently unconnected murders.
Sergeant Ivet Portabella is investigating the death of a young woman who appears hanging inside a mysterious sphere of branches that hangs from a tree. At the same time, the murder of a German with a high economic post with a tattoo in the groin reopens an old case that someone does not want to bring up again. On the other side of the coin, Édgar Brossa, a freelance journalist down on his luck who scrapes by on the social underside of Barcelona, agrees to investigate the disappearance of a novelist who had the same tattoo as the banker, a crude inscription with the word AUTUMN.
Both investigations converge and Ivet and Édgar decide to join forces to try to make sense of a case that is getting more complicated by the moment.
Autumn Far from the Nest is a snapshot of a time full of loneliness, cruel social differences, new incomplete languages, (in) social networks where everything is a lie to some degree, because we can all build our artificial selves while working as slaves for this prevailing neofeudalism, to which we blindly surrender. And therefore, this novel is an ode to the only possible resistance: life, the natural one, which requires the four elements and the five senses.
