Based on the novel by Jean Genet, this dark, highly symbolic drama presents a portrait of Querelle, an arrogant young sailor and opium smuggler. While in dock for an extended period of time, he becomes involved in the surrounding town's seedy underworld, particularly the owners of a local brothel.
