Read It Again seeks a comprehensive understanding of women in the bible which requires us to dig into the Scriptures from a different point of view than what people are always accustomed to hearing. Many times, women have unfortunately been cast in a negative way that does not lift up women. We are left at the mercy of sermons and media portrayals that often depict us as pregnant and promiscuous or as prostitutes and welfare recipients.
Now is the time to erase these injurious and inaccurate stereotypes and to reclaim a connection with our deep ethical roots and moral legacy. We all need to be challenged to learn stories of women's strength, courage, and faith that propelled generations of our foremothers into the world undergirded by justice, love, faith, wisdom, and perseverance.
Theology has been historically written through the eyes of men, but it's time for a shift. Women need to look through their own eyes with their own theological perception. We need to include both men's and women's perspectives to come closer to the truth of theology.
My parents taught me one great lesson in my educational pursuits: READ IT AGAIN, double check what you read to make sure it is precise.
