Eira Heiðrún has had a prophecy. And that's not unusual. But this one was different-chaotic and terrifying.
Archaic Monsters. Forgotten gods. A war that could devastate the world. And it all starts with him-Loki, a Norse God and her most despised enemy. Even worse, the prophecy suggests that her granddaughter, Cayden, has a role to play in the battle that Eira has foreseen.
And this, Eira cannot allow to happen.
She's spent years hiding the existence of the magickal world from Cayden. Twenty years, to be exact. And not just hiding magick from her, but her from it.
Cayden was... special. All the Heiðrún women were. For their bloodline is ancient, its roots spanning history to the beginning of time itself. Every woman gifted with the blood bears the talent to use magick. And every one of them has died tragically because of this 'gift.'
Eira is determined to break the cycle.
Leaving the old world behind, with all its gods and monsters and magick, she's raised Cayden without knowledge of that world. But now, after all of Eira's hard work, despite all of her sacrifice-now it was all in jeopardy. Now, her prophecy tells her it was for naught.
For a monster from her past is coming to call.
The last time Eira had seen Loki, he had killed her only child. Now he was back, free to roam the Earth again, undoubtedly seething to finally settle a seemingly never-ending score.
