Saltatio Mortis' eighth studio album comes right on the heels of their 2010 live album Manufactum II and their 2011 DVD 10 Jahre wild und frei. Sturm aufs Paradies offers 13 new tracks featuring the group's mixture of medieval music (including bagpipes and other traditional instruments) and rock and metal, similar in sound to bands such as In Extremo and Subway to Sally, although the medieval element is slightly more in the background as on the group's previous efforts. The limited edition features one bonus track and a second CD with piano versions of several album tracks, while the "deluxe box" includes both CDs and one DVD with making-of videos and interviews. ~ Christian Genzel
