Excerpt from Suggestions for a Program for Health Teaching: In the Elementary Schools
Probably no field of education within the last two years has shown more originality and vitality than that of health education. Experiments have been made not only by individual teachers but by groups of teachers on a large scale. In the midst of such inter esting developments the need of a sound program of health educa tion extending through the grades has become insistent. In this pioneer field certain ideals, principles, and methods have earned merited approval, but the work done has been limited to particular problems. Every serious student of the health situation feels this keenly, but the time is not yet ripe for a definite and complete course of study in health teaching. The whole field is still in a somewhat uncertain state. Educators in general have lost faith in the old fashioned methods.
