The storytelling of
Junior Samples
is an acquired taste. He landed a spot on the television show
Hee Haw
on the strength of a fish tale he first told in 1966,
"World's Biggest Whopper."
In the late '60s,
Samples
recorded a few albums for
Chart Records
which contained good-natured yarns like
"The Insurance Man,"
"Jailbird,"
"Junior's Love Life,"
and
"The Disorderly House."
While this material retains a charming innocence, for most listeners a little bit of
