The Codex Komatke is an adventure novel set in Arizona's Sierra de la Estrella Mountains. The Native Americans have always called them The Komatke. Its narrative takes the reader from the Estrella Mountains southwest of Phoenix, to the Colorado River Indian Reservation in western Arizona, to the Tohono O'Odham Reservation in southern Arizona.
The focus character, Willhelm Wayne, is a Military Officer who falls in love with Myra Page, a young Native American nurse, while attending to his late father's estate in Parker Arizona. However, his sense of duty to family and country finally forces him to end his relationship with Myra and return to Virginia where he's stationed. Through the years, his love for Myra endures. Upon retirement and subsequent divorce, he finds himself back in Arizona, ostensibly to prove that an old map belonging to his late father is a fake.
However, the map turns out to be genuine and leads him to find not only an Aztec codex, but eventually the happiness that true love and family can bring. Although plagued with murder, theft of archeological treasures and conspiracy, the main characters will not be deterred in their goal to uncover the mysteries of the Komatke. Diverse personalities abound in this novel, and it highlights the necessity of placing personal happiness above personal wealth.
