Venerable Mary of Agreda, (1602-1665), known also as Mary of Jesus, was a Spanish nun of The Order of the Immaculate Conception (the Conceptionists). She is known especially for her missionary work among the Indians in America, which she did by the miracle of bilocation. Thus she is often dubbed the Lady in Blue. The most famous of her written works is "The Mystical City of God," a biography of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This current book, "The Divine Life of the Most Holy Virgin," is a faithful abridgment of Ven. Mary of Agreda's work in one volume. It was originally prepared by Fr. Bonaventura Amadeo De Cesare, the Consultor of the Sacred Congregation of the Index. This publication is based on the edition published in France in 1853, and the words of Our Lord and Our Lady appear in bold text.
