William Buist (1691- ) also a tenant farmer of the estates of Berryhill, Denmill, and Lochmill in Abdie Parish, Fife. William Buist the Elder (1664-1730) was the last of three generations of the family to be born in Dunfermline, Fife. He would become the first Buist to farm the lands of Berryhill, Abdie Parish, Fife. James Buist (1617- ) resided in the Royal Burgh of Dunfermline. The story of this long and illustrious family begins in Dunfermline in the early 1600s.
