Wanting a quieter environment to work on her novel, Mercedes Adler moves to the small town of Pedeaux, Ohio for peace to do research as well as people watch for character inspiration. She is shown a large old house that was built in the mid-1800s and instantly falls in love with it; however, her eagerness to move is short-lived as strange things begin to happen. A pile of bones are found in her basement, a young man she meets is murdered with unknown cause, shadowy figures seem to follow her, and she receives numerous notes and packages from a nameless figure who wants something from her. Who could want something to do with someone who had just moved into town? Mercedes dives into her own research to find out the significance of her home on 100 West Main Street and discovers eerie news through the town's archives. There had been twenty unsolved murders within the past five years in three of the surrounding counties with two of the victims sharing the same surname: Pedosta. With her newfound knowledge, she travels around town and questions the residents to see if she can discover more about the murders. What she did not expect to find out was the surname of the family who had lived in the house before her: Pedosta. The family had left behind a will and an unsolved secret of their own that people would literally kill to find... and have already tried in the past five years. Mercedes takes it upon herself to find more clues as to who the murderer is, but must watch her back if she does not wish to become the next victim. The secret of 100 West Main Street will be revealed in Karen Cook's The House on the Corner. Retired from a management position in the employment/unemployment field with the State of Ohio. After marrying John Cook (deceased), we moved to the family farm where I have lived for the past 48 years. I wrote this book several years ago and was inspired to get it published by my daughter. Am a true bibliophile, collecting mysteries and suspense novels since I was a young girl.
