As I went through Colossians, I was reminded once again that Jesus is Lord. That seems so obvious, but somehow we forget from time to time that He is indeed Lord. When we decide to go our own way or we decide to not do what we know God wants us to do, we are saying, "Not so, Lord." Our practical living must be founded on the fact that Jesus is Lord. He is Lord when it pleases me, and He is Lord when I am not so pleased about it. Some situations may cause us to question what the Lord is doing or what He is allowing to happen. But regardless of our circumstances, one truth remains: We can trust Him. The song writer said: "When you can't see His hand, trust His heart."Paul wanted his readers to know Jesus Christ is the Supreme Lord of all. We need to surrender to Him and follow His leading. That is not always easy, but it is always necessary. We cannot live the Christian life by ourselves. The good news is we don't have to. God has given us His Spirit and His Word to teach us and to guide us. What we need to know, God will tell us. What we can't understand, we really don't need to know. Jesus said we must become as little children to enter the kingdom of God. Children trust what they are told and learn to obey what they are told.As we grow in Christ, may we learn to trust and obey. We are the children of God. We need to begin to listen to the Father, and be obedient children. I hope you will remember that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life as you walk with Him. - Tom Hinkle
