It's November 1949 and Isobel Drake is back in Little Hilton. With the help of her good friend Anne Fellows she has embarked on a career as a private detective and soon finds herself investigating a robbery at the home of her first client Mr Andrew Taylor. This being an Isobel Drake mystery, the crime doesn't remain that of robbery and before long both Isobel and Anne are once more on the trail of a killer.
