The Great Depression, extended to every corner of the globe, including the British colonies in Africa. Those difficult times found James McKinley and Harry Mann abandoned by their families while they were still just teenagers. Alone and desperate for work, they found each other and salvation at the doorstep of George Brockman. The old farmer took the boys in and gave them employment on his farm in Southern Rhodesia.
