Why Under the Apron was started. Under the Apron became an inspiration after reading a book called the Hemingses of Monticello, the current economic unsolvable crisis, the catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico with the corporation controlling the Federal and State Governments, and the media. There have been recent inspiring editorials, the banter of bloggers in internet news sites, news stories about foreign and domestic workers that have made headlines, personal experiences, employee experiences, and a TV series called "Undercover Boss." All of the above experiences in this time period have inspired me to scribe this personal record. The disclaimer I wish to place in the front of this book is that these are strictly my perceptions. I cannot expect everyone to agree with my perceptions, nor do I ask anyone to do so. All of history is written documentation of an individual's perception. Accuracy, data, and evidence are prohibitive in the recording of history. Perceptions on the other hand, are abundant in historical documentation. This book is my desire to keep a record for historians in the next centuries of the life of American workers in the 21st century.
