For those who couldn't get enough of the great dance compilation
V Classic, Vol. 1
, your prayers have been answered. Ultra Records has issued an accompanying second volume of different drum'n'bass tracks, and it's as good (if not better) than the original. Most of today's best-known and popular DJs contribute tracks (
Roni Size
,
DJ Die
, and many others), which ultimately serve as the perfect introduction to newcomers. Many speedy highlights are included, such as
Roni Size's
"Only a Dream 1998 Mix,"
and
Scorpio's
"Trouble," and
DJ Krust's
"Maintain [Dave Angel Mix]" (the original version was one of the first volume's highlights as well). The beats are quite consistently infectious, while each DJ leaves his own original mark on each remix. Admittedly, there are only so many stripped-down dance tracks one can hear until it starts getting a bit monotonous, but
V Classic, Vol. 2
was really made for the dance floor, not for at-home easy listening. Another great dance compilation. ~ Greg Prato
