Volume 2 looks at evolving traveling troupes like the Smart Set, Allen's Minstrels, and others, as well as their connections to northern performers like Williams and Walker, the Whitman sisters or and the Black Patti Troubadours, with their related stage shows and dances. It also offers a glimpse of the early New Orleans scene.
