The Magic City Nutcracker was established in the winter of 2012. Spearheaded by Kelly Avery, Stephanie Thompson, Angel White, and Leslie DuPont, they are all dance teachers in Birmingham, Alabama. These dance teachers have a passion for dance, philanthropy, and local arts organizations.

Above all, their vision was to create a new version of the traditional nutcracker ballet. However, in this version, local talent comprises the entire cast. This production represents professional dance companies and dance studios throughout the Birmingham area. Most importantly, The Magic City Nutcracker is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization. They offer a portion of the proceeds to local charitable organizations with each performance. The hope is to inspire the next generation of artists to pursue their passions! In addition, they also encourage young dancers to support the arts and other organizations.
