Based on the landmark 1962 short La Jetee, this sci-fi mystery begins in Philidelphia in the year 2035. A catastrophic virus deliberately spread by 12 monkeys has wiped out most of the population, prompting scientists to send a "volunteer" prisoner back in time to 1996 to prevent the devastation.
