HOT PEPPERS FOR POP: During the Great Depression, a 15-year-old boy earns enough money in hot-pepper-eating contests to attend a major league baseball game, where he sits on the field with Dizzy Dean and drinks from the dugout water fountain. WING MAN: During WWII, a young man is trained to pilot the B-29 bomber, the most advanced aircraft of its time, and accompany the plane that drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. OUT OF THE WILDERNESS: During WWII, an orphaned, Polish, Jewish youth miraculously eludes the Nazis, joins the Russian army, gets arrested for "Counter Revolutionary Propaganda," nearly starves to death in prison, survives in a wilderness commune, escapes to and from the Polish army posing as a Greek concentration camp survivor, and finds his family in America.
