After I published my first book of photographs titled: Twin Towers Remembered', in 2011, I still didn't have the courage to visit the site of the 9/11 Memorial. But, all that changed when I went back to the Big Apple to visit one of my old friends from Greenwich Village in 2013, he was very ill and has died since. During that visit I decided, to go and take a look at the 9/11 Memorial and take some photographs. I also, walked around the downtown area and check some of the new buildings in the vicinity. Some of the construction was still going on and you could see it. The 9/11 Memorial was officially open in 2014, with the construction of the Transportation Hub still in development. The Hub was the design of the Spanish Architect Santiago Calatrava; the construction was started in 2003, it was open in 2016.
My wife Angie and I, went back to NYC to see final project of the 9/11 Memorial in 2016, and to take few more pictures. I have selected photos from 2013 and 2016 for this book. I added some from the downtown area and of the new buildings. I was very touch by the final design of the 9/11 Memorial Fountain, is very open and informative with the names of all the victims in the attacks of September 11, around the perimeter. Many people from the United States and overseas come to New York to see the 9/11 Memorial, the place was full of people taking photos and paying their respect at the site. This book is dedicated to all the victims of the attacks on September 11, 2001 and their families.
