's 2013 release combines three different sessions -- two recorded in late 1960, one in the summer of 1961 -- from New Orleans jazzmen, all paying tribute to , the cornetist/songwriter who was an instrumental force in New Orleans jazz. , , and appear on all three sessions, with popping up elsewhere, but no matter who is sitting in, this is spirited, swinging Dixieland music, performed with virtuosity that never calls attention to itself, as the focus remains on that big, raucous swing. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
