Forecasts Of wind direction and velocity aloft Favorable and unfavorable weather for flying Addendum.
Introduction. A Presidential Address before the Association of American Geographers in war time must inevitably concern itself with war. Never, in the long history of man's struggle with man, has there been such emphasis upon the importance of geographic controls over military Operations. Never has the part played by topography, by soils, by the surface covering of the earth, by the atmos phere, been so Obvious. Never has a knowledge Of geographic condi tions had such immediate-practical bearing upon the conduct of war. Never have geographers had such an opportunity to help their country successfully to wage war as they now have, when they place their scientific knowledge at the service of those who can make the most effective use of it.
