Detective Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) confesses to his long-time partner Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) his plans to retire after celebrating the birth of his new grandson; that is, until Lowery endures a shooting by known assassin Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio) at a small get together. The investigators then reunite for one last mission to track down the killer and restore justice to their neighborhood.
