The story is about this girl born with the ability to see the dead or anything beyond this realm. She's gifted and cursed by this gift. This particular demon attaches itself to her and her lineage from her mother's side of the family, and it wreaks havoc. A particular demon waits for the birth within her family to follow it or possess it. Her mother can avoid it, though it follows her until she cannot have children anymore, then follows her daughter, the protagonist. They have had much disgrace in her family, from aunts becoming prostitutes, an abusive mother, a perverted uncle, all within the Martha lineage. Eventually, she must confront the demon or risk being haunted forever.
