In times of output-oriented processes it is alarmingly comfortable to be a minor. If I have an international comparative study, that thinks for me, an educational monitoring that acts as my conscience, a fitness-tracker who prescribes my diet, the troubles of autonomous thinking and questioning can be replaced by the assiduous collection of data. The reflecting subject in the process of formation is not decisive any more when we have ready for use samplings. The authors of the book made it their business to ask for a contemporary notion of enlightened formation (Bildung) and to expound the problems of it in a multi-perspective way be it likewise in a pedagogical and subject-oriented educational manner, be it from the perspective of teaching methodology and of practical experience or be it philosophically and pragmatically.
