Jo Tanis is a hero in name only. She might have superpowers, but she's under the thumb of the Agency who controls all the supers around the world, setting up fake fights to entertain the public. With her Guardian Mike, she's forced to live a life that's not hers... until one day when an alien ship arrives. In the ensuing chaos, almost all of the front-line supers are killed, unable to use their skills effectively after years of play-fighting and pretend-wins.
