But Now... is One Child's Search for Truth We were known as "throw away children." The very day you turn your county or city's age requirement, you are out the door, and it doesn't matter where you go from there. One day, I read a sign on a church lawn that said, "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." Those words resonated within me and never left my heart. There were like seeds planted by God that would later grow and bloom leading me on a quest for truth. As a child farmed out by my own parents at the age of five, by age seventeen I couldn't wait to get away, out on my own, and to have my life in my own hands. I wanted freedom! I wanted to conquer the world, but without the understanding of what truth and true freedom really was, the world conquered me.
