Craig Cotton, the pastor of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, has left town with Mary Alice Darnell. When Mama takes his estranged wife under her wing, it sets in motion a chain of events that scramble the lives of six people. Neither is aware of the other's involvement as they become entangled in each other's life. Finally, they are all brought together and must deal with the one thing they were trying to escape: each other.
