in their house may not be the smartest thing. This is because, for the most part,
is an album of
noise
. Sure, there are some funked-out grooves thrown in, but lots of this consists of keyboards and the bleeps and bloops that they produce. To think of a hyper version of
Brainiac
on uppers may be a pretty close match.
Nice Nice
may establish a beat that is rocking steady but it can suddenly be thrown off-kilter, and thus hardly any song is the same. The
funk
sound of
"Cold Sweat, Pt. 16"
leads into the blistering loud
of
"Chez Clix,"
and so it goes. The material here is by no means poorly made and perhaps
is best understood by experiencing the band in a live setting, yet repeated listens of this album can hardly be expected -- except for the most hardcore fans of
