A mild-mannered English doctor (Boris Karloff) is experimenting with anesthesia, but his plans go awry when he becomes addicted to narcotics. He conspires with two grave-robbers (Christopher Lee, Francis DeWolff) to trade drugs for signed death certificates, but finds himself being blackmailed.
