This new book recently released, titled
Damien and Dutton, Two Josephs on Molokai
by Howard E. Crouch, is a biography based on true facts. It tells of the lives of two Josephs: one a Belgium priest (born Joseph) who took the name Damien after his ordination; the other, Ira Dutton, Yankee Civil War veteran, and penitent, who took the name Joseph upon his conversion and baptism into the catholic faith.
A poignant story, it portrays how they found the most precious gift of all - friendship. How they worked toghether through joys and sorrows, victory and defeat, with only one desire, to serve God's most abandoned - leprosy outcasts in Hawaii.
